What is GivingTuesday?

GivingTuesday began in 2012 with a simple, powerful idea: a day dedicated to inspiring people to do good. 

Originally launched at the 92nd Street Y’s Belfer Center for Innovation & Social Impact in New York City, GivingTuesday has since grown into an independent nonprofit and a global movement. It now engages hundreds of millions of people worldwide, encouraging generosity, collaboration, and community spirit.

Secure your chance to win any one of the prizes below! Purchase a single raffle ticket for $10, five tickets for $45, or ten tickets for $90. Tickets can be purchased from November 22nd until 9am EST on Giving Tuesday, December 3rd! Winners will be drawn at random and announced later that day. 

Your contribution will help our ongoing conservation efforts for reptiles, amphibians, and their vital habitats. Each ticket you acquire boosts your chances of winning one of the raffle prizes listed below.

Each ticket gives you the chance to win one of the following raffle items – you cannot purchase tickets for a specific item.  Winners will be drawn at random and announced on GivingTuesday, December 3rd.  Items will be raffled off in the order they are listed below.

THE GRAND PRIZE - 2-Day Field Herping Trip for Two

This 2-day field experience will occur in early 2025 in South-Central Georgia. The raffle winner will join Ben Stegenga (Orianne Society Research Assistant), and Noah Fields (@NKFherping) for a weekend of sandhill snake surveys and field herping on private conservation properties, including The Orianne Society’s Longleaf Stewardship Center. On these outings, you may encounter Eastern Indigo Snakes and Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnakes, and other sandhill species such as Gopher Tortoises, Eastern Coachwhips, Florida Pine Snakes, Mole Skinks and more! Nighttime herping will focus on ephemeral wetland species, such as Eastern Tiger Salamanders, Ornate Chorus frogs, and Eastern Chicken Turtles.

The prize includes dinner for two, and lodging for two at The Orianne Society’s Longleaf Stewardship Center bunkhouse.  The winner will be responsible for transportation to the location and food and beverages during the daytime outings.
