"In situ capture of an endangered female Blanding's turtle in a Massachusetts vernal pool. Considering my camera is not waterproof, I took a risk taking this shot, but thankfully I was able to pull it off by just dipping the front end of my fisheye lens under the surface of the water while keeping the body of the camera "mostly" dry. The greatest threats facing this secretive, handsome turtle are habitat destruction and road mortality." - Mark Lotterhand
