Flatwoods Salamander Pond Research

We’re starting up several long-term research projects this summer, and Ben and the rest of the Georgia field crew spent a couple weeks in pine flatwoods habitat installing water monitoring wells in ephemeral ponds. Many of these ponds support or used to support Flatwoods Salamander populations, so the data we collect will be directly informing recovery efforts for these imperiled salamanders.
